Abstract
This presentation explores the concept of “change power” as an essential leadership attribute during periods of social justice unrest. Delivered at the Sixth Annual CITI Leadership Conference, Dr. Judy Rashid examines how leaders can move beyond passive listening to engage in active, inclusive processes that facilitate genuine organizational and cultural change. Drawing from conflict resolution theory and social justice frameworks, the presentation emphasizes the importance of intentional dialogue, relationship-building, and process-oriented leadership in navigating intergroup conflict and institutional inequities. Rashid offers a model for leaders to engage stakeholders meaningfully and argues that sustainable change emerges through shared ownership, vulnerability, and courageous conversations—especially in times of racial tension and public unrest.
