Abstract

The North Carolina A&T State University Office of Honors Research launched Honors Without Borders, a global speaker series funded by the National Collegiate Honors Council Portz Grant. The initiative connects students with international scholars to explore interdisciplinary and globally relevant topics, including equitable artificial intelligence practices in the Philippines and HIV/AIDS responses in South Africa. By integrating cultural context alongside academic content, the program cultivates global awareness and cross-cultural understanding. Hosted entirely via Zoom, the series removes financial and logistical barriers to international engagement, making global education accessible to a broad student audience. Pre- and post-session Qualtrics surveys provide data on learning outcomes, informing program refinement and demonstrating impact. Upcoming sessions highlight Antarctica’s significance and climate change effects, as well as the ethics of AI and interdisciplinary innovation. Honors Without Borders illustrates how digital platforms can extend the reach of honors education, promote interdisciplinary scholarship, and foster meaningful international dialogue, preparing students to engage thoughtfully with complex global challenges.
