Dr. Ronald Erwin McNair (1950 - 1986) physicist, and 2nd African American astronaut in space was also a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He first went into outer space in the 1984 Challenger mission, and perished in a tragic explosion on the Challenger on January 28, 1986.
This collection contains photographs, flyers, publications, and other materials from the University Archives and Special Collections that show the legacy of Dr. McNair and how he is still honored throughout the university and throughout the world.
