Course Description
The objective of this course is to provide students a solid grounding in the application of the core concepts and skills required to conduct social research. General topics covered will include the following: The Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Social Science • Conceptualization, Operationalization, Measurement and Interpretation • Research Design • Designing a Research Project • Quantitative Data Gathering Techniques and Analysis • Qualitative Data Gathering Techniques and Analysis • Mixed-Methods Approaches and Triangulation • Research ethics An overarching objective of this course is to provide students with the skills and perspective needed to enter the job market as an entry level social researcher/analyst or enter a competitive graduate program.
